The Mills - Nan Fung Group’s long-awaited arts and culture hub

The Mills, the landmark revitalisation project from Nan Fung Group, has finally opened its doors after about five years of careful renovations. The former cotton mills, which were the heart of Nan Fung Textiles during Hong Kong’s manufacturing boom, have been transformed into a design hub that celebrates the city’s industrial history while nurturing its creative community. The heritage destination now boasts everything from experiential retail shops, business incubators and cultural happenings to a lush rooftop park and plenty of photo ops.

The Mills consists of three major spaces. First is Mills Fabrica, a gallery and shopping area focused on the business of fashion, aiming to help young creators and small start-ups kickstart their future. There's also the heritage conservation project, known as CHAT. The final component, Shopfloor, is a space showcasing the work of artists, designers and local talents and giving shoppers the opportunity to interact with the creators behind the pieces.

The authentic and literally industrial-chic historical elements, modern fittings and abundance of artistic features all make The Mills endlessly Instagrammable. Besides the stunning rooftop garden, the five glass bridges that connect CHAT to Shopfloor are some of the most eye-catching additions to the complex, while design touches like the incorporation of sand buckets into the safety signage show thoughtful consideration of the building’s historical imagery. For one of the most photogenic spots in the whole complex, visit the Hall – a gorgeous, light-flooded atria that functions as a gathering space for the community.
